Money for a Wisconsin Dells trip for crossing guard cadets was removed from Stevens Point's 2012 budget, but a group of residents is trying to give those kids a chance to make the April trip.

Reid Rocheleau, Barb Jacob and Dave Suchon donated $1,500 to the city Friday to help pay for a trip to Wisconsin Dells.

The trip is one the guards made every year and was funded as part of the Police Department's budget. But that budget was trimmed for the 2012 budget year as the city faced a roughly $1.5 million shortfall in its budget. ...
