A band made up of five local teenagers are headed to a state music competition after winning a regional competition in Green Bay Friday.

Idea Charter School student Rahcel Mattson, 15; Mosinee High School students Riley Kaiser, 16, Isaac Wirsbinski, 15, and Andrew DeLange, 17; and Rosholt High School student Dalton Yaeger, 17, make up the band WithoutExcuse.

The students made it to the state competition in Launchpad, a statewide alternative music competition for high school students in bands formed outside of the traditional music classroom. The competition is sponsored by the Wisconsin School Music Association.

WithoutExcuse will compete June 8 in Madison for the grand prize.
