As we enter the 2013-15 biennium, our state is in a much better fiscal position than we were two years ago.

When I was first elected into office, our state was looking at a $3.6 billion deficit and rising property taxes. During the last biennium, my colleagues and I were able to pass a fiscally responsible budget and help freeze most property taxes, which provided much needed relief for working families.

The biennial budget is by far one of the most important pieces of legislation each session, and will have a direct impact on you and your community over the next two years. I would like to take this ...
