Hmong heritage event showcases fashion, art, music (with video)

Hmong lyrics and flute music floated through the four branches of the Wausau Center mall Sunday afternoon.

The mall was host to a fashion show and cultural showcase Sunday that was held as part of a series of events for the 10th annual Hmong Heritage Month, which celebrates and teaches others about Hmong history and culture. It marks the month that the first Hmong family arrived in Marathon County in the 1970s.

About 20 Hmong children and teenagers displayed traditional and modern Hmong clothing, but the event also involved the singing of Hmong folk songs, an art display and a mixed martial arts ...
