The Cedar Rapids Kernels jumped out to a 6-0 lead Monday night and cruised to a 10-2 victory over the Timber Rattlers in Wisconsin's home opener at renovated Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.

The loss was the third in a row for the Timber Rattlers. The Kernels put three runs on the board in the first inning. Rattlers starting pitcher Preston Gainey walked the first two batters of the game. Dalton Hicks then hit a one-out double to drive in the first run. Adam Brett Walker then doubled in two more runs.
