Durkin off-base in attacks on DNR head

Regarding Pat Durkin's column in the Outdoors section of Sunday's March 24 paper: Enough is enough already. Durkin should put his brain in gear before he puts his pen in motion. His continuing attacks on DNR secretary Cathy Stepp, Tom Tiffany and other legislators with common sense should be taken with a grain of salt. Generally, Durkin's writings are about as interesting as watching snow melt.

If Durkin fails to see the negative impact of spearfishing on the tourism industry, no matter how small, and on the relationship between the Chippewa community and its neighbors, he has his head under his wing.

To use the spearfishing authority the Chippewa have as a tool every time Tom Maulson has an issue with his neighbors is irresponsible. Maulson needs to act like a leader instead of public outcries and displays of the past.
