The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Winnebago County and other parts of northeastern Wisconsin.

Up to two inches of rain that is expected to fall through Thursday will combine with melting snow, already saturated ground and remaining frost to increase the potential for flooding.

Flooding this week will largely affect already swollen rivers and streams over central and east central Wisconsin, although substantial pooling of water in low-lying areas is also likely.

The weather service urges residents to monitor weather forecasts and flood information, and to be prepared to take action if flooding should occur.
