Oshkosh Corp. announces 900 layoffs: Oshkosh Corp. announced it will lay off 900 production and office employees as it prepares for a 30 percent decline in production demand for its Defense products.

A 30 percent decline in demand for military trucks will force Oshkosh Corp. to lay off 900 employees this summer, its second major work force reduction this year.

The company announced Tuesday it will cut 700 production employees on June 14 and 200 office and supervisory workers by the end of July as U.S. Department of Defense spending returns to peacetime levels and orders from foreign governments have not picked up the slack.

Once the action is completed, Oshkosh Corp. will have reduced its local work force by 1,315 positions this year through a combination of layoffs, early buyouts and not ...
