Any jets flying over area skies June 8-9 during the Thunder on the Lakeshore air show won't be from the U.S. military.

"There will be no participation from the Air Force, Navy and Army," said Jutta Furca, director of the air show, which is sponsored by Manitowoc Aviation Resources, a non-profit educational foundation.

The $85 billion in automatic federal budget cuts this year - known as "sequestration" - have thrown planning for air shows into a tailspin. ...
