The city is keeping its own health department.

The city's common council voted unanimously last week against shuttering the health department, despite a staffing shortage and some savings. Brown County already has assumed some of the city's public health responsibilities.

A merger with the county health department would have saved De Pere $83,000 annually. The municipality is the only in Brown County with its own health department. ...
