Burnstad's Market celebrated its first anniversary Friday with cake and a performance by the Spencer High School pep band.

The Burnstad family, which also owns grocery stores in Black River Falls, Tomah and Richland Center, purchased the former Spencer Super Value building in January 2012, renovated the interior and opened the store April 25, 2012.

"The group of people we have here are very hard-working and determined," store director Andy Cveykus said about the store's 25 employees. "We hired quite a few old employees from Spencer Super Value, so we came in with a lot of knowledge about the ...
