This marks the 25th consecutive year for the Boy Scouts of America's Scouting for Food Community Service Project. In this nation-wide effort, the BSA partners with local food pantries to help our neighbors. National statistics indicate that 20 percent of Americans face some type of food inadequacy every week.

Today, more than 6,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers of the Samoset Council will leave a white bag at residences throughout central Wisconsin from Adams-Friendship to the Michigan border. The Scouts ask that contributions of nonperishable food or personal and household care items be placed in the bag and the bag then placed out for collection by the Scouts before 9 a.m. April 20.

The collections will be delivered to more than 50 food pantries throughout the 13 counties served by the Samoset Council. All collections will be distributed locally. The Scouts and their leaders thank you for continued support of Scouting and the efforts of our local food pantries.
