Officials at the Marathon County Jail on Thursday met with prospective contractors to replace the facility's problematic intercom system, three years after county officials approved the move.

Maintenance records obtained April 5 by Daily Herald Media through an open records request show four invoices in the past year for repairs performed on the jail's intercom system, which is used to facilitate safe and secure movement of inmates and staff members. Three of the four invoices were for service calls in December totaling nearly $9,000. The largest invoice, dated Dec. 12 for $6,094.78, ...
