Brown County kids reap benefits of early care

Education, safety, proper nutrition and exercise early in life help children do well in school and later in life, local experts say.

The Start Smart of Brown County early childhood council released its State of Brown County's Children 2012 report Monday.

It found that the number of single-mother households living in poverty was about 36 percent in 2011, up from 24 percent in 2000, the most recent data available from the U.S. Census Bureau. ...
