Local cheer teams come home winners

A pair of local cheerleading teams returned home as winners after competing in Kansas City this weekend.

The junior and senior-level Royalty Athletics dance teams got off the bus Sunday evening wearing commemorative white jackets. The jackets are given to winners of their division in the championship of a tournament called U.S. Finals.

"We are thrilled," said head coach Niki Oxley after a 10-hour bus ride from Kansas City. "They worked super hard, their season started in July, so to end it like this is awesome." ...
