DNR: Proposal seeks to ease nuisance algae, mussel clean up on shorelines

A quicker, less expensive permit process would allow waterfront property owners statewide to more quickly and easily clean up accumulations of zebra mussels, dead fish, algae and other plants from their shore under a state proposal.

Comments on the proposed statewide general permit are being accepted through May 15, with the Department of Natural Resources hoping to have the permit finalized and available for property owners to use by Memorial Day.
