Woodchucks plan $2.7M rebuild of Athletic Park (with video, interactive timeline)

The owner of the Wisconsin Woodchucks baseball team plans to spend $2.7 million renovating city-owned Athletic Park during the next few years as part of a vision for redeveloping the area around the park.

Team owner Mark Macdonald also announced Tuesday that he will donate land and $20,000 cash to the city to build a new neighborhood park next to the stadium. The city, in return, has promised to add street lighting to the area to make fans and players feel more comfortable when leaving night games and to add parking to the area.

Work on the park at 324 E. Wausau Ave. is scheduled to begin in August ...
