The Village of North Fond du Lac Water Utility will be performing annual water main and hydrant flushing between April 29 and May 9.
Flushing of the mains removes natural deposits of iron and minerals that are harmless but affect the color, odor and taste of the water. Also this allows the utility to exercise and maintain hydrants to insure they are in working properly.
Flushing will be done between the hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day in different zones of the water system. Please refer to the zone map and schedule to determine when flushing will be performed in or near your residence or business.
? When you see utility personnel working or water flushing from hydrants in your area, use little or no water for a period of 30-45 minutes to ensure that the water has settled down and that discoloration is not drawn into your residence or business.
? When you do arrive home test your water for discolored water. If you do find discoloration in your water, draw the discolored water off through the COLD WATER TAP ONLY.
Do not run an ice-maker, dishwasher, or washing machine until the discolored water has been drawn off, to avoid staining to your water heater or laundry?
