Green Bay aldermen are slowing down a move to strip the Bay Area Humane Society of a longstanding contract to handle stray animals in the city.

The City Council agreed Tuesday to postpone action on a proposal to shift the contract to Packerland Veterinary Center on the city's west side.

Aldermen said they have heard from many supporters of the humane society, and they want to give the contract issue careful consideration. ...
