County Board endorses unified dispatch

The Portage County Board on Tuesday unanimously endorsed creating a joint dispatch center with the city of Stevens Point.

The decision comes just more than two weeks after Stevens Point Mayor Andrew Halverson announced plans to consolidate with the county as soon as both sides could work out an operational agreement. That decision came after months of public and private meetings with City Council members and the city's Police and Fire Commission.
