Letter: More gun laws won't stop violence

I have an idea of what all these people are going through that lost their children in the school shooting. All we can do is pray for them. I've lost a daughter, and have one daughter that is paralyzed. I also lost two wives.

It hurts me every time I hear of something like this. But, if someone in every school would carry a gun, just maybe this wouldn't have happened at all. Tell me why are President Barack Obama's girls protected by people with guns? Are they better than my kids or yours? Obama is protected by guns but he doesn't want ours to have one.

Every day there are 10 or more killed or disabled by cars that are going too fast or in which a driver is drunk, on a phone or on drugs. No one is trying to make them go 45 miles per hour or take their cars away like with the guns.

Some people are picked up nine or 10 times for the same things. Just because they're stupid, their laws don't change. Why change my gun laws because of what some sick person does? Let's punish the sick people or put them in a hospital, nursing home, or in jail where they can get help.

A gun lover won't kill unless he or she really has to. Let's all respect our guns and cars, drink responsibly, love our children and not sick stupid people. I won't even let a politician put up a sign in my yard if he or she is for abortion because that's killing babies.

My heart and prayers go out to anyone that loses a child.
