It is high time to prune apple trees and other fruit crops as the continued cold spring has delayed the bud break period. Pruning enhances the fruit quality of the tree on a continued basis. In fruit trees, pruning to open the canopy increases better air movement, light penetration, and in turn reduces pest and disease occurrence. Pruning also reduces the height of the tree which helps in better spray coverage and easy harvest.
