Boy Scout food collection is Saturday

Filled bags will help local pantries

More than 19,000 plastic bags were attached to front doors throughout the Marshfield area to collect donations this weekend for Soup or Socks and St. Vincent de Paul food pantries.

Local Samoset Council Boy Scouts will collect the bags of donated nonperishable food by noon Saturday, said Joe Kress, Samoset Council Ojibwa district executive.

"It's good that we can help a lot of people when we collect food donations. This is one of the many ways Boy Scouts give back to the community," Kress said. ...
