Two police departments mull merger

Officials hope Everest Metro, Rothschild consolidation would save money, improve service

The Everest Metro Police Department could, as soon as next year, add nine new officers to its 25-officer roster if a consolidation effort with the neighboring Rothschild Police Department receives clearance from local elected officials.

The Everest Metro Police Department and Rothschild Police Department consolidation ad hoc committee met April 11 to discuss and move forward with a plan to join the two departments and create one large law enforcement organization to serve four communities in the south metro area. No residents attended the meeting.
