Rome recognizes officer's meritorious service

When an Adams County sheriff's deputy was wounded in a Feb. 19 shooting, a Rome police officer was there to help him.

Rome Police Chief Adam Grosz recognized Jacob Swiederke with a Certificate of Meritorious Service during the town's annual meeting Tuesday.

Grosz was working the night of Feb. 19 when the Adams County Dispatch requested he assist Adams County Deputy Todd Johnson at a call regarding a suspicious person in a seasonal home in Big Flats, Grosz said. ...
