Ever since she was young, Amber Schubert said she wanted to coach high school softball. She's getting her first opportunity this season as Algoma's new varsity coach, and has an intriguing game coming up against her alma mater, Southern Door.
New Algoma High School softball coach Amber Schubert won't need a formal introduction when her team plays Friday at arch rival Southern Door.
Schubert graduated from Southern Door in 2006 and played softball there for four years under Eagles coach Pat Delcore. In addition, her father, Paul, was an assistant coach for the Eagles back when they won two state championships in 1992 and 1994, and her cousin, Ashley Wery, currently plays for Southern Door.
