Neighbors deliver petition against Mason bike lanes

Neighbors opposed to a bike lane plan that would remove parking on Mason Street delivered 543 signatures to City Hall last week.

The petition sends a signal that the neighbors are organized and have mobilized a serious effort to block the bike lanes, which have support from city staff and the cycling community.

"We understand the city wants a bike route from north to south, but this is one of our busiest streets and will affect so many people when it takes away parking," said Bob Phillips, who lives on Mason Street and helped organize the petition. ...
