The biggest change in the Green Bay-Bay Area USBC Bowling Association 15- and 20-year average lists are Eric Puyleart jumping into the fifth spot on the 15-year list and Mark Simonet coming in ninth and Aaron Johnson 15th on the 20-year list, all in their first year of eligibility.
Mike LaFave continues to top the 15-year list while Scott Weber remains the leader on the 20-year average list.
This week we conclude a look of the lists, checking out the top 20 for the past 15 and 20 years after updating the five and 10-years lists last week.
Each year association statistician John Schmitz calculates the averages for bowlers for the last five, 10, 15 and 20 years. Bowlers must have bowled in 80 percent of the span to be eligible. This list is through the 2011-12 season.
On the 15-year list, LaFave holds a comfortable lead over Alex Young with a 231.820 average for 4,759 games. Young has a 228.838 average for 5,036 games.
Young moved up from third to second from the previous year but is no longer active in the associatio, having moved out of the area.
Weber was second a year ago but dropped to third with a 228.766 average for 2,190 games and Dave LaBar remained in fourth with a 225.791 average for 2,985 games.
Puyleart, in fifth, has a 225.593 average for 2,639 games.
In addition to Puyleart, there are two other names that are new in this year's top 20 but not new to the list. They are Tom Karman and Steve LaPlant.
Karman is ranked 18th this year with a 221.707 average for 1,390 games, moving up from 25th on the previous year's list. LaPlant, with a 221.215 for 3,306 games, is 20th, up from 21st a year ago.
On the 20-year list, the top three remain the same. Weber leads with a 229.003 average for 3,516 games followed by Young with a 228.066 for 5,519 games and LaFave with 225.192 for 7,063 games.
LaBar and Thyes switched places with LaBar moving up to fourth and Thyes dropping to fifth. LaBar has a 222.545 average for 4,396 games while Thyes is at 222.395 for 5,217 games.
Simonet and Johnson are the only two new names in the top 20 of the 20-year list.
Simonet is making his debut with a 221.890 average for 3,357 games for his ninth-place ranking while Johnson is 15th with a 220.249 for 2,986 games.
It is interesting to note that Mike LaFave has felled 1,590,530 pins over the 20-year span, the most by any of the bowlers on the top 20 list and the only one over 1.5 million.
