Sarah Berken of Appleton knows that while playgrounds can be a lot of fun, they also have risks.

Last summer, her daughter, Anna, then 3, was injured from a fall off a climbing apparatus that had a couple curves.

Anna went up the piece of equipment fine, but on the climb down on the other side, she lost her balance and fell face forward down onto the bars at the bottom, said Berken, a mother of three. ...
