Mark Macdonald and his family have totally embraced the Wausau area and it shows by their funding of these improvements to Athletic Park. As a Woodchuck host family who attends just about every home game, my husband and I are very proud of Mark's commitment.

This is great to see at the historic Athletic Park. It will be a great thing for the neighborhood - and if you look at the overall picture, it will be great for baseball fans and the community. There will be more room; it's family-friendly and maybe they can start holding larger tournaments there for kids. This renovation will bring many people and money to the city of Wausau.

That part of town is in desperate need of attention. Based on the drawings, it will be an incredible improvement to the area. Even better that this is primarily going to be funded by private funds. Very happy to see this.

What I would love to see is a plan that included the Little League field next door, maybe paid for through fundraising or grants. That little field has been neglected for many decades. Why not somehow include that park into the overall renovations and additions to Athletic Park?

Great idea to rebuild the stadium and help rehab the neighborhood. If they really want to promote the city, how about changing the name to "Wausau" Woodchucks now?

- Nick Bretl

Very excited about this project!

Yes, fantastic news!

Should have done it 10 years ago. It will be awesome.

Maybe it will improve revenue for the owner, but that's about it.

- Joey Kersten

This is wonderful in multiple ways: It's another asset to the community and an infusion of dollars to the community, and this will enhance the neighborhood as well.
