Letter: I want children protected at schools

I want children protected at schools

EDITOR: I read Jack Duffy's recent guest column taking issue with the National Rifle Association plan to have armed guards in schools. I think Duffy is living in the land of rainbows and unicorns.

The NRA never said what type of a weapon a teacher or a private security guard would carry. Some of these teachers might be veterans who were overseas fighting while liberals were home with their heads in the sand.

I guess in Duffy's world it's hear no evil, see no evil. I would like to think if some crazy person is going to try and do harm to my children or grandchildren, someone would be able to stand up and protect them. If the day ever comes and a teacher, principal or hired security guard ever has to protect our children, I would thank God they had one.

Maybe if the legal system would start making an example of some of these cold-blooded killers, there would not be a need for armed guards or teachers in schools.
