April 23, 1935 - Playground in Tank Park is discontinued: Decision to discontinue supervised play this season in Otto Tank park for all children over 12 years of age was disposed of at a special meeting of the board of park commissioners last night in the board offices on Dousman street.

The proposal to remove the playground equipment and to use of the Tank park athletic field came after prolonged discussion and some reluctance on the part of the board which to a member realized that many complaints will be made by residents of the South side whose children used the playground.

The request that the board adopt such a policy came from the Brown County Historical Society. This group claimed that Tank had originally been designated as "memorial park" and should be preserved as such.

Sand boxes, swings and other equipment will be retained and confined to the east end of the park for the smaller children.
