One would suspect that chilly Wisconsin would be a nightmarish place for a Florida-born pitcher to work. That's not the case with Ryan Gibbard.

Pitching in America's refrigerator seems to agree with the 23-year-old right-hander, who has kept opponents bats' cold all spring and continued to do so Tuesday afternoon in the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers' 9-1 win over Quad Cities.

Gibbard shrugged off temperatures in the mid-30s to go six strong innings in his first start for the Timber Rattlers and pick up his first win in Wisconsin uniform. ...
