The seventh annual Wanda's Dynamic Do-Gooder's Relay for Life Family Picnic will be May 4 at the Auburndale Shelter House .
The picnic will feature a bean bag toss tournament; entry to the tournament is $20 per team. Registration begins at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.
The family picnic will also include food, raffles and silent auction.
Wanda's Dynamic Do-Gooder's team was created when Auburndale native Wanda Weiler was diagnosed with colon cancer seven years ago at the age of 45. This is a glandular tissue cancer that first appeared for Wanda in her colon. Wanda's family members and friends then decided to create a team for the Marshfield Area Relay for Life to help raise money to battle cancer. In memory of Wanda, the relay team continues to support the Marshfield Area Relay for Life and cancer services.
All proceeds from this event go to the Marshfield Area American Cancer Society. The money raised saves lives by funding cutting-edge cancer research, early detection and prevention education, advocacy efforts and patient services reported by the American Cancer Society. Let's join together to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember those we have lost and raise money to fight back against the disease.
"We are proud to help support the Marshfield Area Relay for Life because the money stays in the community and these are the very services we turn to when we are in need," said Kathy Gehrke of Sherry.
