Local school leaders, elected officials, representatives of the state's Department of Public Instruction and leaders from the state's largest teachers union, the Wisconsin Education Association Council, will hold a community forum tonight about the impact of the taxpayer-funded school voucher program.

The meeting, which features groups critical of the program, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Northcentral Technical College's Health Sciences Building, 1000 W. Campus Drive, Wausau, according to a WEAC press release.

The voucher program allows for public funds to pay for students' private school tuition, a measure opposed by WEAC. The Wausau School Board in early April also passed a resolution opposing the expansion of the voucher program because it would drain financial resources from public school districts.
