Fewer than half of the students from the four largest school districts in north central Wisconsin read at advanced and proficient levels, according to the results of the latest state standardized tests.

Those students, from the Wausau, D.C. Everest Area, Merrill Area and Mosinee school districts, were among the more than 430,000 across the state who last fall took either the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination or the Wisconsin Alternate Assessments for Students with Disabilities.
