Name: Mary Alice Smith

Residence: Town of Rib Mountain

Age: 58

Employment: Homme Home Adult Day Care in Forest Park Village

Family: Husband, Don; with two grown children, Jess and Jeremy; daughter-in-law, Melissa; and three grandsons, Tanner and twins Cooper and Graham

Years of service as a volunteer: 27 years

Favorite volunteer activities: I have been a volunteer since the mid 1980s when I volunteered as the Girl Scout leader for my daughter's Girls Scout troop in Madison.

From 1993 to 2007, I volunteered at North Central Health Care Center in the therapeutic pool doing range of motion exercises with some of the residents from Mount View Care Center.

I have been a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and am currently a volunteer for Faith in Action of Marathon County, helping them with office projects. The ARC and Faith in Action are volunteer stations for RSVP.

My husband Don and I are volunteers for NBRAN, the National Brittany Rescue/Adoption Network. We help transport rescued Brittany spaniels to their forever homes.

Tell about a volunteer experience: I am also currrently a volunteer and artisan for The Talent Shop located within the Rib Mountain Goodwill. The Talent Shop staff is assisted each day and evening by volunteers who give their time to assist customers looking for a one-of-a-kind handcrafted art or craft item. All items in the shop are made by artisans over the age of 50 and this shop gives them a chance sell their creative wares.

I have enjoyed each volunteer experience over the past 27 years and have learned very much from the special people I have helped and worked with just by giving them a few hours a week of my time.
