The former Chief Executive Officer of Oneida Seven Generations Copr. has lost his suit against the tribe over what he called his unfair firing.
John Kroner had successfully fought the transfer of his case to the Oneida Tribal Judicial System after winning at the state Supreme Court last summer, but Brown County Circuit Judge Marc Hammer this month ruled in the tribe's favor on the suit itself by agreeing to dismiss the case.
Kroner was Seven Generations' chief executive officer from 2001 to 2008, when the corporation fired him. Kroner alleged a breach of contract on the grounds that Seven Generations failed to follow policy as spelled out in the tribe's employee manual. Hammer agreed with the tribe's argument that the manual didn't apply to Kroner because he isn't a tribal member and that he was an "at will" employee, meaning it could fire him without cause.
