Tina Zahn, who has become an author and motivational speaker following her dramatic rescue from a suicide attempt in 2004, will be the keynote speaker at a May 4 fundraiser in Brown County.

Zahn will speak at the Third Annual Spring Gala hosted by the Brown County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The event will begin at 5 p.m. at The Marq, 3177 French Road, Lawrence.

NAMI provides support, education and advocacy for county residents who deal with mental illness.

The event will include speakers, award presentations and a silent auction. Tickets are $50 each. They can be purchased at www.nami.org/sites/NAMIBrownCounty or by calling Dorajean Branch at (920) 430-7460.

Zahn attempted to leap from the Leo Frigo Bridge in Green Bay. She was saved by a state trooper.
