Area unemployment down in March

Green Bay metro area unemployment dropped half a percentage point in March.

The state Department of Workforce Development reported Wednesday that Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) unemployment was 7 percent, down from 7.5 percent in February and from 7.3 percent in March 2012. The MSA includes Brown, Oconto and Kewaunee counties. The rates are preliminary and will be adjusted by next month's report.

According to DWD, 169,600 people had jobs in the metro area, 1,700 more than a year ago. ...
