Letter: Hundreds of volunteers provide invaluable service to community

4:48 PM, Apr. 23, 2013  |  Comments

In recognition of National Volunteer Week (April 21-27) the RSVP Volunteer Center sends thanks to all volunteers for their generous donation of time to meet essential needs in the community. It is inspiring to see the tremendous heart of giving that each volunteer contributes to improve lives and strengthen the community.

Our nation has faced many challenges this past year. Our volunteers make a difference by tutoring children and adults in reading and math and distributing food to prevent hunger. They also provide a wide variety of health and wellness services and much more. United we stand together, taking "believing" action to build prosperity and promote the well being of fellow citizens. Last year 1,000 RSVP Volunteer Center members generated 75,500 hours of service worth $1,397,000 of service in Manitowoc County.

The RSVP Volunteer Center would also like to extend thanks to the following: United Way for their funding support, Holy Family Memorial for their generous sponsorship and Hearld Times Reporter for helping us spread the word about needs in the community. This support makes the critical asset of a volunteer center available to our community.

If you would like to find out how you can volunteer, check out hundreds of volunteer opportunities at www.volunteermatch.org or call us at (920) 320-4263 or email vc@hfmhealth.org. We would love to help you find ways to give back.
