A man convicted of murder for a 2006 shooting death in Oshkosh will be back in court next week for a hearing to gather information the state Court of Appeals needs in order to rule on a motion claiming he had ineffective appellate counsel.

Victor T. Thomas, 29, has filed a petition with the State Court of Appeals seeking to have his appeal rights reinstated. Thomas claims he received ineffective counsel from his appointed appellate attorney.
