School Board fails to choose new president (with video)

The Stevens Point Area Public School Board will select a president at its next meeting after a marathon organizational meeting produced no result.

Tom Owens, the district's director of business services, said the board will pick a president at its May 13 meeting. Before it picks a leader, the board will select its ninth member. Former member John Zellmer resigned in March when he moved to Madison. He had been a board member for less than year.

Owens ran most of the almost six-hour meeting Monday because Superintendent Attila Weninger was unable to attend for personal reasons. ...
