Road construction season starts in Wisconsin Rapids

Wisconsin Rapids street crews have begun the first of about a dozen public works construction projects scheduled for this year.

The $192,000 project is the second phase of ongoing work to replace a West Grand Avenue water main, City Engineer Dave Laspa said. The second phase was pushed back because of the lack of available right-of-way property, which required the city to move the water main to the turn lane of West Riverview Expressway.

"We're basically replacing the water main," Laspa said. "We had a break in the intersection and are running water (main) into Associated Bank." ...
