Neenah 3200-meter relay team advances to Penn Relays finals

Neenah’s 3200-meter relay team of Claire Knaus, Jennifer Parker, Jessica Parker and Alison Parker advanced to the finals of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

The two-time defending WIAA state champions ran a qualifying time of 9:24.89 on Thursday to finish fourth in their heat and 11th overall of the 69 competing teams.

The top 12 teams advance to compete in the finals at noon on Friday at the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field. The Neenah foursome combined to set a state record at last year’s WIAA meet in La Crosse with a time of 9:00.42.

The Penn Relays is in its 117th year, and attendance is expected to top 110,000 over the three days, making it the largest attended track meet in the United States.
