A federal court has given preliminary approval to School Specialty's plan to emerge from bankruptcy.

The Greenville-based maker of educational products announced Thursday that the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware issued an order giving preliminary approval to the company's disclosure statement, which outlines its reorganization plan.

CEO Michael Lavelle in a statement said the court's decision is the next step in the company's debt restructuring. ...
