Professor to discuss 'Women Around Jesus'

Emmaus Ecumenical Catholic Community will sponsor a program by Dr Kathleen Corley, professor of religious studies at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The program, entitled "The Women Around Jesus" will address questions such as: Did women fully participate in the movement around Jesus?; Who were these women?; Were some of them really prostitutes?;What was the role of women in the Palestinian Judaism of Jesus' day?; What was the role of women in the Greco-Roman society of Jesus' day?; and Was Jesus a gender revolutionary? The presentation will be Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at First Congregational Church, 137 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh. Contact Fr Mike Bober at 920-410-5877 for more information.
