Authorities solve case of Manitowoc County man missing for 27 years

Authorities finally solved the mystery of a Mishicot man who disappeared 27 years ago.

Harry Ballard, 59, was last seen on Jan. 5, 1986. Ballard, who had a drinking problem and often disappeared for extended periods of time, had picked up his severance pay from Fox Hills Resort and disappeared again, according to a Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department report from the time. He was reported missing on March 14, 1986.

Ballard was declared dead by the courts in May of 1990, but his body was never found, said Manitowoc County Coroner Curtis Green. ...
