Northern pike make it to bay for annual spawning

One of Brown County's newest nature preservation areas was teaming with activity recently as a population of Northern pike made its way in from the bay for annual spawning.

That annual appearance took place on 34 acres of forested wetlands owned and maintained by the Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust.

It's among four properties the land trust owns and 40 it is helping to preserve in a 12-county area extending from Marinette down to Green Lake County, said the organization's spokesperson, Kari Hopfensperger. ...
