Mosinee baccalaureate service

Mosinee churches are co-sponsoring an ecumenical Baccalaureate Service for graduating seniors at 7 p.m. May 28 at the Creske Center. The Baccalaureate Service is a specifically Christian celebration of our graduates and their achievements.

The service will include music by the Good News worship band and a message by Jeff Tarras, director of the North Central Wisconsin Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Tarras will speak on "Spies and Giants." A reception will follow the service with cookies and snacks. This service is open to the public.

Seniors interested in participating can sign up at their church, or by emailing mumc@mosineeumc.org, by May 20. Church membership is not required to participate. Open sign-up will also be available 6:15 p.m. to 6:45pm the evening of the event in the Creske lobby.

Participating seniors will be entered in a drawing for one or more Baccalaureate Awards of $200 each, sponsored by local churches, businesses, and individuals.

For more information about the service or sponsoring the Baccalaureate Awards, please contact Pastor Park Hunter at 715-551-2041 or pastor@mosineeumc.org. We are also looking for students interested in helping lead the service through music, readings, or other involvement. Please contact Pastor Park by May 6 to help in this area.

Shopping shuttle

The Mosinee shopping shuttle will run May 10 to stores and restaurants in the Rib Mountain area. Cost is $5 per person.

The shuttle is open to anyone who would like to ride, young or old. Please call 715-693-2125 by noon May 9 to reserve a seat. Pick-ups are 9:10 a.m. at Willow Haven (804 12th St.), 9:20 a.m. at Maplewood Apartments (508 Sixth St.), and 9:30 a.m. at Acorn Hill (430 Orbiting Drive). The shuttle will return to Mosinee by 1 p.m.

Riders should be able to climb four steps with minimal assistance.

This service is supported by Mosinee United Methodist, Cornerstone Apostolic, Our Savior National Catholic, St. John Lutheran, and St. James Episcopal churches, and by the Active Older Adults exercise group, Mosinee Masonic Lodge, Mosinee Area Action Club, and Burnett Transit/Progressive Travel.
